Bollywood’s Top10 grossers of 2013 – Till September:

For bollywood year 2103 started with lots of hope and expectations to do some big business in the market making some new records in box office collection.  last year in 2012 it was in the name of salman khan with giving two big box office collections “Ek tha tiger” and “Dabangg 2″ both did good at box office and were in top 10 grossers of 2012. But “Top 10 grossers of 2013” were very surprising and to its best. This year many big previous records were smashed and some new mile stones have been reached in bollywood. Lets peak into Bollywood’s top 10 grossers of 2013.


1) Chennai express (Released 9th August 2013) :

Directed by Rohit shetty starring Shahrukh khan, Deepika Padukone and sathya raj in the lead the movie broke all possible records in the box office collection. With reaching Rs.100 crore in the first 3 day’s to breaking previous record of “3 idiots” which was 202.47 crore rupees the movie has already reached over 200 crores in the domestic and over 100 crore rupees in the overseas market.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.33 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.206.5 crores. (as on 01/08/2013)

2) Yeh jawaani hai deewani (Released 31st May 2013) :

Directed by ayaan mukherjii had Ranbir kapoor, deepika padukone, Aditya roy kapoor and Kalki in the lead this was an romantic flick and did well at both domestic and international market getting into Rs.100 crore club.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.19.81 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.179.6 crores.

3) Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (Released 12th july 2013 ):

Directed by Rajesh Om Prakash mehra created a movie based on Indian athelete Milkha Singh the running sikh starring Farhan Akthar, Sonam Kapoor the actor did comlete justice to the character and movie was smashing hit making itselft to the 100 crore club.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.8.66 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.108.78 crores.

4) Race 2 (Released 26 January 2013):

Sequel to Race directed by the same duo Abbas- Mastan movie did well at box office having some of the cast same as Race one but this it was John abraham playingSaif ali khan’s sibling. Movie also had Anil kapoor, Deepika padukone and Amisha patel in the lead roles.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.15.13 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.96.35 crores.

5) Aashiqui 2 (Released 26th April 2013):

In Mohit Suri direction came the years best musical hit movie Aashiqui 2 having Aditya roy kapoor and Shraddha kapoor in the lead. The movie songs were smashing hit as well as the movie.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.6.25 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.78.59 crores.

6)Special 26 (Released 8th February 2013):

Neeraj Paandey came up with a story based on true incident having Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles. Movie did some good job with collection but not with the story and audience.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.7.1 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.66.70 crores.

7) Ranjhana (Released 21st June 2013):

Kolaveri guy actor Dhanush making his debut into the Bollywood with this movie directed by Anand L Rai. Movie got a very positive response from the viewers but was not in hurry and took the phase slowly making it over to Rs.100 crore club with worldwide collection.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.5.15 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.63.35 crores.

8) Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara (Released 15 August 2013):

With grand success of Once Upon A Time in Mumbai producer Ekta kapoor made sequel to this hit film naming it “Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara” aka OUATIMD having casted Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakhshi Sinha in the movie the movie was fallen by face at box office and not a good response from audience and critics but it managed to make some good collection.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.11.25crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.58.5 crores.

9) Shootout at Wadala (Released 3rd May 2013 ):

Shootout at lokhandwala wala having vivek oberai, sunjay dutt and other was a great hit at box office and similar to it was another  shootout but this time instead of Lokhandwala it was Wadala. Directed by Sanjay gupta movie was based on mumbai based gangster “Maaniya Surve” and his encounter at Wadala. Movie did above the average but was not a blockbuster.

First Day Box office collection: Rs.10.11 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.55 crores.

10) Satyagraha (Released 30th August 2013 ):

Political drama again by Prakash jha and this time with “Satyagraha”. Movie got a good opening at box office and still running healthy. Cast includes Amitabh bachchan, Ajay devgn, Arjun rampal, Kareena Kapoor, Manoj Baajpai in the lead roles.

First Day Box office collection: Rs. 33 crores.

Domestic collection: Rs.48 crores (Still running in cinema’s as on 01/08/2013)

Overseas collection of Yeh jawaani hai deewani $10.4 million
Overseas collection of Bhaag milkha bhaag $3.82 million

Overseas collection of Special 26 $2.7 million
Overseas collection of Ranjhana $1.8 million
Overseas collection of Once upon a time in mumbai dobaara $2 million
Overseas collection of  Shootout at wadala $1.62 million
Overseas collection of Satyagraha $1.3 million

These are Bollywood’s top 10 grossers of 2013 and its only till September 2013 since there are more big expected movies like Dhoom 3 and Krrish 3 that are set to break more records it would be too early to make this as the final listing of Bollywood’s Top 10 grossers of 2013.
